ContantContact: Prepare Your Customers for Additional Holiday Email Communications

I know it’s hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is already just about a week away. (Seriously, where did this year go??) Among other things, this means we’re about to enter the homestretch of the year, and for many readers out there, things are about to get even busier (as if that’s possible).
I’m going to take a wild guess and say these next few weeks are of critical importance to your business or organization. Accordingly, you’re going to do whatever you can to ring up as many sales and collect as many donations as you can. And I’m sure the temptation is there to increase the number of communications you send to your email subscribers.
If that’s your plan, then allow me to make a quick suggestion: Why not give your subscribers a heads-up first so they know they’ll be hearing from you more often than they’re used to?
That’s exactly what Zappos did last week. On Friday, I received an email from the online retailer telling me that starting this week and until December 24, I’ll be receiving promotional email messages from them three times a week, as opposed to the normal once a week. “Get ready,” the subject line said, “They’re coming.”
