Director – Online Marketing
Job Description:
The Director of Online Marketing is responsible for developing the plans, programs and strategies to grow the paid subscriber audience of WSJ.com, Barron’s.com, and MarketWatch Newsletters. This position is supported by two direct reports and “dotted line” relationships with the teams that execute the marketing programs and strategies. To be successful in this role, required skills include superior marketing, planning and analytical capabilities, as well as the ability to lead, influence and motivate others. Person needs to be highly organized with strong communication and general management skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop online marketing strategy, budgets and forecasts in support of the broader franchise strategy ; Define test strategies, acquisition volumes, source optimization, retention policies and pricing necessary to drive subscriber growth and profitability; Monitor campaign results to ensure programs are executed according to plan and that targets are met; Partner with senior management from customer service, branding, research, and other online executives to achieve strategic alignment in support of goals; Work closely with the print team to build integrated marketing plans ; Impact and Decision Making: Manage 2 direct reports to define marketing direction, customer prioritization, policies and programs for online products within the consumer media group; Manage acquisition and retention marketing teams on a dotted line basis to ensure strategies, policies and programs are implemented according to his/her direction; P/L responsibility for paid subscribers of WSJ.com, BOL, and MarketWatch;
Position Requirements:
10+ years of online marketing experience, including publishing industry; Proven leadership skills with ability to motivate and develop others; Demonstrated success in developing and executing online marketing strategies ; Excellent communication, creative development and analytical skills ; Strategic mindset and strong results orientation ; Proven success working in a matrix organization; Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
